LOVE STORY

Antonio and Danvy met in the fall of 2013 during their first year of college at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. They became close friends and officially began dating in 2016.

PROPOSAL

In the fall of 2023, Antonio proposed to Danvy. He organized a scavenger hunt that led to his apartment in Merrifield, Virginia. He had prepared an indoor picnic for the occasion and after kneeling down, he asked Danvy to marry him. She joyfully replied, “Yes!” The engagement ring featured a platinum band with an oval diamond and pear-shaped accent diamonds on either side.

VENUE

Antonio and Danvy got married at Morais Vineyard in Bealeton, Virginia. The venue features a spacious winery and a Portuguese-style villa with a cocktail room and a grand ballroom.

They chose this location because it had everything they wanted, including a groom’s suite. Additionally, they were intrigued by the unique details of the venue, such as a peacock-themed armoire in the bridal suite, which was featured in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” film and an atrium sourced from Disney World.

THEME/COLORS

The couple wanted their wedding to feel elegant and effortless and Morais perfectly matched their vision as it was already stunning. They envisioned their wedding adorned with soft pastels and vibrant colors, complementing the spring season.

ATTIRE

Danvy wore two gowns on her special day. The first was a Vietnamese-style gown she purchased in Vietnam, while the second was a traditional wedding gown handmade by the bride’s mother.

For the ceremony, she wore a red Vietnamese gown (áo dài) with gold floral detailing that matched the flowers on her husband’s attire.

Her traditional dress showcased a corset top, long sheer sleeves and a detachable A-line skirt that revealed a short satin skirt underneath. She changed into this dress for the reception.

She wore a diamond necklace, a tennis bracelet and gold earrings with dangling pearls. Her shoes were white satin block heels that sparkled around the ankle.

The bridesmaids chose a variety of styles and shades of blue for their dresses.

Antonio donned a navy (áo dài) for the ceremony, adorned with a gold phoenix and floral detailing on the chest and sleeves. He wore a custom-made pink suit with an ivory lining for the reception.

The groomsmen wore navy (áo dài) for the ceremony and switched to navy suits for the reception.

CEREMONY

The ceremony took place outdoors under the venue’s pergola. The couple chose minimalistic decorations for the space, feeling the location’s natural beauty was enough. Two floral centerpieces were placed on each side of the pergola and the aisles were lined with smaller arrangements.

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her mother and father to the tune of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Joey Stamper. The recessional music was “Stargazing” by Myles Smith.

COCKTAIL HOUR

Cocktail hour took place outside at the villa’s entrance, with guests able to sit inside the cocktail room. Drinks were available at both indoor and outdoor bars.

As appetizers, the guests were served crab cakes, fried spring rolls, mini charcuterie boards, grilled garlic herb shrimp skewers and steak frites.

The newlyweds’ signature drink was a Prosecco Pop, featuring Italian Prosecco poured over a petite blackberry sage popsicle.

RECEPTION

The reception took place in the venue’s grand ballroom. The reception area featured a sweetheart table with a wedding arch as decor, adorned with loose greenery and pops of color that created a whimsical, light and airy atmosphere. VIP tables for families were long, rectangular tables adorned with faux flowers and candles, adding vibrancy to the environment. Round tables showcased tapered candles, votives and small floral arrangements at their centers.

MENU

The dinner menu featured a shaved vegetable salad with an acacia honey vinaigrette, served with focaccia and olive oil. The duo entree included seabass and chicken, while a cauliflower steak was a vegetarian option. Accompanying sides were charred brussels sprouts and a saute of wild rice, lentils and vegetables.

CAKE

The cake was a three-tier marble cake with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream. Florals cascaded down the side of the cake and the cake toppers were from Vietnam.

HONEYMOON

The couple honeymooned in Jamaica.
