Calling all Crafty Brides! This is Your Guide on Which DIYs to Tackle & Which to Leave to the Professionals

Have you ever scrolled through your wedding Pinterest board and thought “I can make that?”

Yeah- me too.

Keep reading for which DIYs to take head on vs which ones aren’t worth the stress.

DIY Dos

Invitations

Whether you want a simple invitation or a traditional 4-piece invitation suite, this is a fairly easy DIY. All you need is a free Canva account and some inspiration.

Signage

Just like invitations, signage is easy to create on Canva and have them printed at Staples, Canva, or a local print shop. A few signs you might need:

  • Seating Chart
  • Bar Menu
  • Welcome Sign
  • Unplugged Ceremony
  • Open Seating
  • Table Numbers

Other non-printed signs are a great option, too, like the mirror welcome sign shown below.

Cake Topper

Fire up that Cricut and create a custom cake topper for a fraction of the price. Simply type your last name, create an offset, and cut it out. Then add a skewer. Make sure to use a heavy-weight card stock.

Program

From a 4-page newspaper program to a simple fan design, programs are easy to make and great to customize.

Centerpieces

Using candles, bud vases, flowers, and votives, beautiful centerpieces can be designed for a fraction of the cost of a huge flower display designed by a florist.

DIY Don’ts

Reserved Seating Signs

The reality is: it’s cheaper to purchase pre-made reserved signs than the individual supplies needed to create them. Check out Hobby Lobby for great, affordable options!

Custom Flasks

Engraving stainless steel flasks is more trouble that it’s worth. Unlike glass, stainless steel isn’t easily engraved/etched, so chemicals and personal protective equipment must be used. Just bite the bullet and purchase custom flasks for groomsmen.

Wedding Crest

Unless you’re a graphic design guru, it is probably worth your while to purchase a wedding crest design instead of the headache of designing it yourself. There are many great options on Etsy!
