The Perfect Setting for a New England Bachelorette: Newport, RI

While Newport, Rhode Island isn’t all the rage like Nashville or Tulum, it’s the perfect choice for a bride who wants a unique, relaxing Bach trip. Even better, it’s only an 8 hour drive, 6 hour train ride, or nonstop flight away from Washington, D.C.! Keep reading for an itinerary you’ll definitely want to copy:

Thursday:

2PM: Arrive in Newport and drop luggage off at Island House Newport, your home for the weekend. This coastal paradise offers many room styles, from a traditional hotel room with 2 queen beds up to an Elite Penthouse that can sleep 12 (& has 4 bathrooms!).

Check in isn’t until 4, but the hotel will hold your luggage so you and your girls can stretch your travel-weary legs on the Cliff Walk.

2:30-4PM: The Cliff Walk is a walking path along the rugged coastline with beautiful views of Newport’s main attractions: the guided age mansion. The trail head is only a 10 minute walk from Island House and the walk itself is about 3.5 miles. Do as much or as little as you’d like before heading back to Island House for the first look into your luxurious room.

5:30 PM: Settle in a get ready for your first night out in Newport! Begin the evening with a glass of wine on The Lawn at Castle Hill Inn, a quintessential Newport experience.

7 PM: Dinner at Clark Cooke House in downtown

Friday:

10AM: Grab breakfast and coffee and one of Newport’s many instagram-worthy spots

11AM: Tour Newport’s famous mansions like The Breakers or Marble House– these are great for a touch of glam and a fabulous group photo

1PM: Head up the peninsula to Newport Vineyards for a relaxing afternoon wine tasting

4PM: Start back to the Island House to glam up for an evening on the town

6PM: Begin your evening at an upscale classic like 22 Bowen’s or The Mooring

8PM: Contrary to its laid back, coastal atmosphere, Newport has quite the nightlife scene. After dinner start your bar crawl at The Red Parrot before moving down Thames Street to O’Brien’s Pub and ending the night with dancing at The Dockside

Saturday:

10AM: Start your morning back on Thames Street for a coffee and shopping

12PM: Choose either a beach day at Easton’s Beach or a private harbor cruise. Either way, soak up the sun and the beautiful Rhode Island coastline.

5PM: After a full day in the sun, enjoy your last evening in. If you’d like to cook in your suite’s fully equipped kitchen, the Island House is happy to help arrange a grocery delivery, or if a private chef is more your style, the concierge service at the Island House can point you in the right direction.

9PM: Round out your activity-packed weekend with traditional bachelorette games and time well spent with your girls before the big day rolls around. For activity and game ideas, check out our blog on The Best Bach Games.

Sunday:

9AM: Check out Belle’s Cafe for a waterfront final breakfast before heading home with sweet memories
